We
want to receive statements that help Karate become an
Olympic sport.
Throughout the World Karate is thought
of as an Olympic sport, however it is not one. Karate
fulfils all the sport specifications required for sports
to become Olympic. The International Olympic Committee
acknowledges Karate is a first level sport and the federations
integrated in the WKF (World Karate Federation) as a
major axis in the sport, but it has not yet made the
decision to include Karate in the Olympic programme.
From the WKF we want to prove to the IOC that the introduction
of Karate in the Olympic Games would contribute to encourage
the Olympic Spirit throughout the World.
Olympic Karate will allow a further dissemination of
the sport in society. The dissemination of Karate will
increase awareness in all layers of society, regarding
values such as the respect for others, personal balance
–both physical and mental–, control of our
strength and perseverance to overcome difficulties.
It is an easy and simple sport, and its popularity among
children make it one of the sports with a brightest
future and that can contribute most benefits to society.
We want to be Olympic so lots of people can benefit
from all the things that the people who already practice
the sport already have. We owe it to society, we owe
it to the sport, we owe it to Karate.
Olympic Karate, now..
